Position: Part-Time Administrative Assistant – Office Operations & Community Outreach
Schedule: 20 hours per week
Pay: $18–$20 per hour
Reports To: Newberry County First Steps Executive Director

About the Role
The Administrative Assistant supports the daily operations and outreach efforts of Newberry County First Steps. This role is ideal for someone who values community impact, enjoys helping others, and can keep office systems running smoothly while supporting staff, clients, and programs. Responsibilities include administrative tasks, social media and outreach support, basic finance functions, and general office coordination.
Responsibilities and Duties
Open and prepare the office each morning for daily operations
Answer, screen, and direct incoming phone calls professionally
Provide administrative and program support to staff across the organization
Maintain office, program, and supply inventories; place orders as needed
Coordinate upkeep of office equipment and ensure the office remains organized
Manage client listings, databases, and maintain accurate records
Assist with social media content, community outreach, and event promotion
Support basic finance tasks such as tracking expenses, invoices, receipts, and purchases
Help prepare materials for programs, meetings, workshops, and community events
Run miscellaneous office errands and complete special projects as assigned
Understand and promote Newberry First Steps' role in supporting families, children, and individuals in the community
Maintain a professional code of ethics in all interactions with clients and colleagues
Qualifications
Previous administrative, nonprofit, or office support experience preferred
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and email systems
Experience using social media platforms for outreach and engagement
Comfortable handling basic bookkeeping or financial tracking tasks
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
Friendly, professional, and service-oriented attitude
Commitment to the mission and values of community-based work
Proof of valid driver's license, excellent driving record, and vehicle in safe operating condition
